Welcome to St. Leonard’s C of E First School, Dunston

We are a small, unique First school; part of Staffordshire University Academies Trust and the Diocese of Lichfield. We have a strong, family atmosphere and are committed to providing a bespoke school journey for each pupil. All staff are highly motivated and resolute in providing the very best education possible.

Our school’s teaching and learning is underpinned by our Anglican faith where our children Learn to love and love to learn with God. The school grounds are immense for such a small school and are continually being developed for outdoor learning opportunities. Our Christian distinctiveness and values are evident inside and outside of the school curriculum.

We have good links with St. Leonard’s Church with children participating and leading in collective worship as part of our services. Visitors are very welcome; parents and carers are invited to our celebrations and services – so please refer to our newsletters to keep updated.

Our dedicated Local Academy Council (Governors) ensure that the school is held to account; challenging and supporting our journey. We work closely with the other schools in the Trust thus enabling our small number of children on roll to benefit from additional resources and personnel.

Our PTA members are highly motivated and fundraise with love to give the children the ‘extras’ that a small school’s budget cannot sustain.

A favourite prayer to help us move forward with our lifelong learning:

Dear Lord,

There are so many things we could ask you for.

Today we ask for wisdom, that we may understand you and the world and people better.

Help us to look and to listen with an open mind, that we may learn.

Amen
