At St Leonard’s we take Safeguarding children very seriously.  As a minimum all staff have completed Level 1 Safeguarding training and all have successfully completed the necessary clearances (DBS) which enables them to work with children.

DBS stands for Disclosure and Barring Service. Anyone who works regularly with children will need to have a clean DBS certificate. All staff including supply staff, regular visitors, PTFA and volunteers, as well as members of the Governing Body, are subject to Disclosure and Barring Screening (DBS) checks. This is to ensure that unsuitable people are prevented from working with our children.

We have two members of staff who are trained to a higher level and who are able to deal with any Safeguarding concerns as they arise.

Our LAC member responsible for safeguarding is Mrs Helen Ashwood.
