Nursery

Children can start in our Nursery class once they are 3 years of age.

We currently offer places from 8.55am – 3pm, all children are eligible for 15 hours government funding but you may also be eligible for 30 hours government funding, please click on the Childcare Choices logo below to see if you meet the criteria.

Should you not be able to claim 30 hours funding extra hours can still be booked there will be a charge of £12 per session.

Admission to our Nursery class is handled by the School Office you can contact them by email: office@st-leonards-dunston.staffs.sch.uk or call them on 01785 712488.

Reception

Children can start in our Reception class in the September of the year that they reach age five. Admissions to our Reception class are handled by the Local Authority. To find out if we have places available in either Nursery or Reception please call the School Office on 01785 712488.

Children in Nursery and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS).  All of the children’s learning and experiences are underpinned by the seven areas of learning and development of the EYFS, all seven areas are inter-connected but are split into;

Prime Areas

  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal, social and emotional development

Specific Areas

  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design
