At St. Leonard’s, each pupil is a member of one of our four house teams:
- Sycamore – Yellow
- Oak – Blue
- Beech – Red
- Holly – Green
Individual rewards
When the children receive a house point, they put a leaf stamp on their individual chart and when they get to 25 they earn a certificate.
Team rewards
For each house point earned, the children also put a coloured pebble (the colour of their team) in a jar on the classroom. Each Friday, the pebbles in each jar are counted and a tally is kept until the end of each half term. At the end of the half term, the team with the most pebbles chooses a reward. There are several rewards on offer, including afternoon tea with Minnie and bring your teddy to school day.
British Values
Recently, each house team has been allocated a British Value:
- Sycamore – Mutual respect and tolerance
- Oak – Individual liberty
- Beech – Democracy
- Holly – Rule of law
The children met together in their teams this week and learnt about their British Value. Each team then chose a charity to support, linked to their British Value. They also came up with a fundraiser idea for their chosen charity:
- Sycamore – House of Bread, Stafford
- Oak – Save the Children
- Beech – Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
- Holly – Blue Paws for Retired Police Dogs
Fundraising for Charity
We welcomed Hayley from Staffordshire Retired Police Dogs Charity. During a special assembly Archie, Head of team Holly, formally handed over £103.00 which we raised last term during our first charity day. Hayley told us how the money will be used to give these retired dogs a more comfortable life.
